BT’s performance in the cards business in 2015 earned it the “Bank of the Year” title for the third year in a row at the NOCASH Gala. Banca Transilvania was represented at the event by Oana Ilas, Director, Retail Product Development and Management Division, and the award recognized BT’s results last year:

• Largest cards-in-force in the market: 2.5 million, up by 200,000 cards in 2015
• Most debit cards issued: almost 400,000 BT Visa Electron cards
• Highest card usage: 95.8 million transactions (excluding balance inquiries) and volumes of RON 34 billion; currently, one in five transactions made on cards issued in Romania is generated by a Banca Transilvania card.
• The most used card for merchant payments – BT Visa Electron, with more than 29.4 million merchant transactions and a volume of over RON 3 billion in 2015

At the same event, BT received three other important awards:

• “Best-Selling Debit Card” – BT Visa Electron
• “Shopping Card of the Year” – BT Visa Electron
• “Premiere of the Year” – BT & Western Union – for enabling money transfers at the ATM to any MasterCard or Maestro card issued in Romania

The NOCASH Gala reached its 15th edition and is the most important annual event in the electronic payments industry.
