Banca Transilvania is one of the strongest Romanian brands, according to the BrandRo ranking compiled by BIZ magazine and Unlock Research. BT ranks 27th among the 50 brands most preferred by Romanians. 

• The ranking is based on a study by Unlock Research that measures brand strength through consumers’ trust and emotional attachment, without considering financial or commercial indicators.
  
  
• The performance of Romanian brands is measured using three indicators: brand importance, usage and awareness.
  
  
• The importance of a brand to consumers was measured using the MaxDiff (Maximum Differentiation Scaling) methodology.
  
  
• According to this year’s analysis, while in 2020 Romanians mainly needed brands to support them — especially emotionally, not just functionally — in 2021 the dynamic between people and brands is different: they no longer feel the need for brands to make up for a shortfall, but to add something extra.
  
  
• The study is based on 600 online interviews and is representative of the urban population aged 18–55. Respondents chose among sets of brands, selecting which were the most important/the least important to them, across 10 brand categories.

The first BrandRo edition was published 12 years ago, and since then BIZ has analyzed each year the strongest Romanian brands and their year‑on‑year evolution.

The BT brand story began nearly 30 years ago in Cluj-Napoca, with one branch and a team of 13. Today, Banca Transilvania is Romania’s largest bank, with over 3.2 million customers and around 9,000 employees.
