Banca Transilvania is once again taking part in this year’s ZF Bankers Summit, organized by the publication Ziarul Financiar, in Bucharest, on June 28–29. The 2016 edition is themed “How to grow in a market full of challenges” and is dedicated to debates among bank representatives and analysts on the Romanian banking system, its growth drivers, challenges, trends and the impact of Brexit on the domestic market.

Omer Tetik, CEO of Banca Transilvania, took part in the event’s first panel, “Overview of the Romanian banking system”, which covered the current banking system and its consolidation, as well as monetary policy versus banks’ lending policy. Asked about BT’s success as a Romanian bank, Omer Tetik replied: “Our growth has been driven above all by risk management, prudence and expanding in a segment where we aim to capitalize most — SMEs. We were the first to believe in this market. We have also benefited from the founders’ and management’s mindset — being Romanian — and from a strong organizational culture that is increasingly based on a decentralized model, which helps us manage local risks better.”

Nearly 200 participants attended the first panel of the ZF Bankers Summit. The event continues with panels such as: Trends in corporate and retail banking, Lessons from non-performing loans, Bank marketing and the banking profession.
