Banca Transilvania has received a very good ESG Risk Rating of 17 and is classified as Low Risk following a Sustainalytics assessment of its ESG initiatives and performance. The result ranks BT 133rd out of 1,003 banks globally, placing it in the top 15% of all companies assessed by Sustainalytics and in the top 8% of regional banks. Sustainalytics is one of the leading global providers of ESG ratings.

This is the first external, independent ESG assessment of Banca Transilvania and it examined corporate governance, the integration of ESG factors into the business model, data privacy and security, ethical standards, the product and service offering, and human capital development. The assessment criteria are based on 10 international standards and frameworks, such as Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures and the World Economic Forum.

Sustainalytics highlighted the bank’s performance in the following areas:

• governance of the product and service offering;
• an exclusion policy for high-polluting sectors in lending, such as fossil fuel financing;
• a responsible marketing policy;
• initiatives implemented for human capital development.
