Banca Transilvania reports positive results for 2017
● Preliminary financial results as at December 31, 2017 ●
2017 brought positive results for Banca Transilvania: organic growth, a focus on efficiency and projects in digital banking.
BT financial details (2017 vs. 2016):
- Total assets: RON 59.3 billion, up approximately 15%;
- Total loans: RON 29.9 billion, +10%;
- ≈190,000 new loans granted in 2017, with a total value of over RON 12.7 billion;
- Customer deposits: RON 49.1 billion, +17%.
- Number of transactions processed at BT: +20%;
- Net operating income up 16%, while the bank offered services at lower costs than in 2016.

Banca Transilvania & Romanian entrepreneurs:
- 40% of start-ups established in 2017 chose to bank with Banca Transilvania.
- ≈245,000 business clients – SMEs, micro-businesses and Corporate – bank with BT.
- ≈3,500 micro-enterprises supported through BT Mic.
BT & retail banking:
- Over 10,000 people bought a home last year using BT mortgage/home loans.
- Over 3 million cards issued.
BT, digital and making banking simpler for clients:
- ≈16.8 million transactions were carried out via BT24 Internet Banking and over 3.5 million via Mobile Banking, up 16.8% and 126%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
- Over 370,000 BT24 Mobile Banking users.
- In the fourth quarter, clients made purchases and payments with BT cards amounting to over RON 3.7 billion.
- Nearly 1,800 ATMs, multifunctional ATMs (BT Express Plus) and payment machines (BT Express)
Banca Transilvania, Romania’s number one payments bank:
- Over 2.8 million payments totaling more than RON 17.6 billion were made by Banca Transilvania to the Treasury.
- 51.3 million transactions (payments) were made by Banca Transilvania’s clients in 2017, excluding card transactions.
Banca Transilvania’s net profit is RON 1,186 million, and that of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group is RON 1,242 million. BT Group closed 2017 with assets of RON 59.8 billion, of which the bank accounts for RON 59.3 billion. Net loans — including leasing — account for 50.6% of BT Group’s assets. The bank’s capital adequacy ratio is 17.49% excluding the 2017 result, and 21.16% with the 2017 profit included. The non-performing exposure ratio at Banca Transilvania, under the European definition, is 6%, and the coverage of non-performing exposures with total provisions is 70%. BT continued to be involved in the community in 2017; last year’s contribution amounts to RON 23.11 million.
