Banca Transilvania climbs in the Brand Finance Banking 500 2021 ranking to 302nd place – up from 339th, held in 2019 – with a 19% increase in brand value, to USD 441 million. The analysis was conducted by Brand Finance, an independent global brand valuation firm.

Brand value is the net economic benefit a brand owner would obtain by licensing the brand. Alongside financial results, brand strength is a key driver of brand value.

• BT has consolidated its brand strength in ‘triple‑A’ territory, with a AAA Brand Strength Index (BSI) rating.
  
  
• Brand Finance also measures the relative strength of brands using a series of indicators (balanced scorecard): marketing investment, brand equity (the reputation built with customers, consumers, employees and other stakeholders), as well as their impact on market performance.
  
  
• Against the backdrop of lower profits and government efforts to manage the crisis caused by the pandemic, almost two-thirds of the 500 most valuable global banking brands saw a decline in brand value, according to the Brand Finance report. The total value of the ranking posted a second consecutive annual contraction, from USD 1,330 billion in 2020 to USD 1,270 billion in 2021. The ranking is dominated by banks from China and the US, which together account for over 50% of the total value of the Banking 500.
  
  
• Every year, Brand Finance evaluates more than 5,000 of the world’s most valuable brands and publishes over 100 sector and country reports. The 500 most valuable banking brands are included in the annual Brand Finance Banking report.

The Banca Transilvania brand entered this ranking in 2018, in 486th place, with a value of USD 174 million. In 2019, it climbed by nearly 50 places, and in 2020, by 100 places versus 2019.
