BT Capital Partners and International Investment Bank Expand Opportunities for Collaboration to Support Romania's Capital Market

December 21, 2016BT Capital Partners (BTCP), the advisory and brokerage arm of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, and International Investment Bank (IIB) have entered into a strategic cooperation partnership to broaden collaboration between the two institutions and continue working together in capital markets. The agreement was signed by Paul Prodan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BTCP, and Denis Ivanov, Vice-Chairman of the Management Board of IIB.

BT Capital Partners and International Investment Bank plan to develop the partnership in the following areas: syndicated and interbank loans; treasury operations; advisory services and bank guarantees, including for export‑import transactions; launching credit lines for SMEs; and the exchange of experience and financial expertise so that as many organizations as possible can implement the latest technologies.

“This agreement builds on our excellent cooperation with International Investment Bank to raise funding through the Bucharest Stock Exchange. We are confident the partnership will provide a strong boost to financial intermediation in Romania.” – said Paul Prodan, Chairman, Board of Directors, BT Capital Partners.

“The agreement institutionalizes our successful, long‑term cooperation with BT Capital Partners, which assists our bank in raising cost‑effective funding via the Bucharest Stock Exchange. I am convinced this partnership will contribute to the growth of Romania’s capital market and economy.” – said Denis Ivanov, Vice-Chairman, Management Board, International Investment Bank.

With BT Capital Partners’ assistance in 2015 and 2016, International Investment Bank successfully placed two bond offerings on the Romanian market, totaling 411 million lei (≈ 90 million euros). These were among the largest placements in Romania by international financial institutions and were recognized by the Brokers’ Association for their contribution to the development of the corporate bond market over the past two years. In 2013, IIB extended a 10 million-euro credit line to BT Leasing, a member of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, to support SMEs in Romania.
