BT expands contactless payments via Garmin Pay and Fitbit Pay for Mastercard cardholders

Banca Transilvania is extending the contactless payments option with Garmin Pay and Fitbit Pay to customers who have BT Mastercard cards. By adding their cards to compatible Fitbit and Garmin devices, customers have an easy, convenient way to shop.

BT was the first bank in Romania to launch this contactless payment alternative, in November 2018.

Digital cards added to Garmin Pay and Fitbit Pay have all the features of physical cards, such as contactless payments at merchants or contactless cash withdrawals from BT ATMs. Payments made with Fitbit and Garmin devices also earn Star loyalty points or Award Miles on credit cards, and provide access to travel insurance for those who hold a Mastercard Gold or BT – OmniPass card.

5 steps to add BT Mastercard cards to Garmin Pay or Fitbit Pay:

  • Select the Garmin Pay option in the Garmin Devices section / open the Wallet section in the Fitbit app;
  • Set a security code;
  • Add your BT card or, for Garmin Pay, scan it using your phone’s camera;
  • Accept the terms and conditions;
  • Activate the card for payments via Garmin Pay/Fitbit Pay by entering the code received by SMS.

BT’s portfolio includes 7 types of Mastercard cards for individuals and companies.

Customers of Banca Transilvania now have apps and digital options for all cards, both for purchases and for cash withdrawals: the wallet and BT Pay payment accessories, Apple Pay for phone and smartwatch, and Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay devices.
