BT finances E-INFRA Group to build a solar park

Banca Transilvania is financing the the E-INFRA Group with EUR 47 million to build the Doicești-Şotânga solar park. The project was commissioned in August, and the energy generated will supply green power during construction of the future small modular reactor (SMR) plant at Doicești and, afterwards, will provide an additional source for the SMR plant’s internal services once it is operational.

The solar park produces green energy via more than 123,000 monocrystalline bifacial panels with a 25-year lifespan. Built on over 115 hectares, it has an installed capacity of 80 MW. The park is also connected to the National Power System through the two 110 kV/MV/LV transformer stations at Doicești and Șotânga.

"The Doicești-Şotânga solar park will be an important source of clean energy for the SMR plant at Doicești. We are pleased that, through this financing granted to the E-INFRA Group, Banca Transilvania recognises and supports an important project for the development of the SMR plant, which will play a strategic role in Romania’s energy security and transition. At the same time, these steps send a strong signal of confidence regarding the SMR plant project. Thank you to Banca Transilvania for the cooperation!”, says Gianina Pelea, Deputy CEO E-INFRA.

"Green financing is part of BT’s sustainability and resource allocation strategy, so that—together with its clients—we can have a positive impact on the environment and society. With every client that has such ambitious plans, like the E-INFRA Group, we accelerate financing for sectors that support Romania’s transition to a sustainable economy”, says Cosmin Călin, Executive Director, Large Corporate Clients, Banca Transilvania.

Earlier this year, Banca Transilvania launched for entrepreneurs a package of solutions to reduce energy costs, which includes BT financing for solar panels, an online tool to estimate savings and offers from the bank’s partners in this programme. The solutions are intended for entrepreneurs who want to grow their business sustainably by producing and using green energy from renewable sources.
