BT, a partner to entrepreneurs and a supporter of the Romanian economy, again in 2017. Financial results as at September 30 this year.

The first nine months of the year marked a period of organic growth for Banca Transilvania, with positive results across all business lines, progress in digital banking and strong community involvement.

 

Financial highlights (compared with the end of last year):

  • Total assets of RON 54.9 billion, up 6%;
  • The loan book stands at RON 29.9 billion, up 10%;
  • Customer deposits of RON 44.98 billion, up 7%.

 

BT supports the Romanian economy: Loans outstanding across all the bank’s business lines grew by 10% in January–September this year. Over the same period, Banca Transilvania extended 138,000 new loans to individuals, SMEs and corporates, totaling more than RON 9 billion. Each day in the first nine months of the year, over 700 loans were approved and processed at Banca Transilvania. BT has contributed RON 2.3 billion in taxes and other payments to the state budget over the last 5 years, in its own name and on behalf of employees and clients, of which RON 314 million in the first nine months of this year.

 

Banca Transilvania & Romanian entrepreneurs:

  • One in three newly incorporated companies in 2017 chose to bank with Banca Transilvania.
  • BT serves over 245,000 corporate clients — SMEs, micro businesses and corporates.
  • Approximately 2,000 micro‑enterprises received financing through BT Mic, the company set up at the start of this year to support small businesses.

 

BT, digital and making banking simpler for customers:

  • The bank’s network includes 160 BT Expres Plus multifunctional ATMs, 470 BT Expres self‑service machines and 1,100 ATMs. These give customers easy, 24/7 access to the most common banking transactions: cash deposits, transfers, FX, current account services, etc.
  • More than 12.2 million transactions were carried out via BT24 Internet Banking and over 2 million via Mobile Banking, up 16% and 130%, respectively, versus the same period last year.
  • Over 350,000 users have BT24 Mobile Banking, which now offers an enhanced experience thanks to the new features introduced with the latest upgrade.
  • In the third quarter, customers made purchases and payments with BT cards totaling more than RON 3.3 billion.

 

Banca Transilvania, Romania’s leading payments bank:  

  • BT partners with central and local authorities on the collection of taxes and duties: approximately 2.1 million payments were made through Banca Transilvania to the Treasury, totaling more than RON 12.8 billion.  
  • 36.5 million transactions were executed by Banca Transilvania customers in the first nine months of the year, excluding card transactions.

 

BT & retail banking:

  • 8,000 people gained access to a home thanks to the mortgage and housing loans granted by Banca Transilvania in the first nine months of the year.
  • Over 3 million BT cards issued, with more than 1 million transactions per day.

 

BT, part of the community

  • BT contributed RON 21.4 million this year to programs in financial and entrepreneurship education, sport, culture and social causes.
  • The first cohort of the University of Hull EMBA, a 100% British business school co‑founded by BT, graduated this year.
  • The Padurea Transilvania volunteer program reached its fourth edition this year, when 10 hectares were afforested in Cluj.   

 

Banca Transilvania’s net profit is RON 780 million, and that of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group is RON 829 million. The BT Group closed the first nine months of this year with assets of RON 55.1 billion, of which the bank accounts for RON 54.9 billion. Net loans — including leasing — account for 54.3% of BT Financial Group assets. The bank’s capital adequacy ratio is 17.95%, not including the result for the first nine months of the year.

 

The number of transactions carried out at BT in the first nine months of 2017 increased by 19%, and net operating income rose by 15% over the same period versus last year, while the bank offered services at lower costs than in the previous year. Banca Transilvania’s non‑performing exposure ratio, under the European definition, is 7.3%, and the coverage of non‑performing exposures by total provisions is 65%.

The financial statements as at 30 September 2017 are unaudited and unreviewed; those as at 31 December 2016 are audited.
