Starting today, BT Pay goes beyond banking by encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The new feature integrates BT Pay with the activity-tracking apps Google Fit and Apple Health, giving users access to rewards based on their physical activity.
With this move, the bank is laying the groundwork for integrating more offers that support a healthy lifestyle, continuing to build an ecosystem of gamification-style offers and rewards.
“We’re taking another big step toward our goal of being Romania’s first payments and banking super-app. BT Pay was the country’s first single-issuer wallet and has maintained a leading position by adding new features regularly, including in areas adjacent to banking—donations, offers and health. Even though we have many apps on our phones, we use only a few every day. These are super-apps, and BT Pay is becoming one of them.” - said Oana Ilas, Executive Director, Retail Banking Product Management and Development, Banca Transilvania.
Healthy doses of activity data, in BT Pay
By making activity details available in BT Pay, and by offering rewards, the bank encourages an active, healthy lifestyle. Users will be able to see step counts, distance covered and duration of physical activity right in the app, and BT is preparing personalised campaigns with customer benefits based on this data.
The first reward for BT Pay users is accident insurance, and the steps are as follows:
- Go to the Offers – Rewards in Motion section in BT Pay and connect your Google Fit, Apple Health or Fitbit account;
- Log around 10,000 steps per day during October 5–31 this year, which means 270,000 in total;
- Activate the offer after reaching the step target;
- Make payments of at least 100 lei with BT Pay, Apple Pay or Fitbit Pay during the campaign period.
BT Pay & #bankingladistanta
BT Pay is one of the bank’s phone banking solutions. In the context of the pandemic as well, to provide customers with as many remote banking options as possible, Banca Transilvania accelerated the rollout of app features starting in March this year, and the most important are:
- A newly issued BT card, reissued on request or at expiry, appears in BT Pay in digital form before the customer receives the physical card.
- Cash can be withdrawn with the phone from all Banca Transilvania ATMs, using a code generated in BT Pay and received by SMS.
- Cards issued in Romania by other banks and fintechs can also be added to the app for transfers to BT cards.
- Donations via BT Pay.
- Access to each card’s details in the app — number, expiry date and CVV — for fast online shopping.
- Confirm online purchases with BT Pay via biometric authentication or using the phone’s unlock method.
1 in 4 customers use their BT card enrolled in wallets: the bank has reached over 1 million unique digital cards, out of more than 4 million physical cards, which are now active in BT Pay, Apple Pay, Fitbit Pay or Garmin Pay.
