Banca Transilvania launches Your Pension, in Plain Terms, an interactive initiative to support financial education and improve understanding of private pensions in Romania.

As long-term financial planning becomes ever more important and private pensions contribute to future financial security, BT aims to help increase awareness of how the pension system works, as well as the management, benefits and role of private pensions.

By completing an online questionnaire, participants can test their knowledge of private pensions, find useful information and enter a prize draw.

Prizes for correct answers — and for taking an interest in your financial future 

• Anyone who answers all ten questions correctly in the “Your Pension, in Plain Terms” quiz, available on the bank’s website, by 30 September 2026 can enter the prize draw.

Demographic challenges, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics

In Romania, the state pension is significantly lower than income during the working years: its average monthly amount is close to 3,000 lei, equivalent to approximately half the average net salary.

Romania’s declining population — now at 19 million people — is linked to several factors: low birth rates, a continued natural decrease, international migration and changes in demographic and family behaviour.

The ratio of people in work to state social insurance pensioners is increasingly imbalanced in Romania, currently at 10:8.

Demographic and social trends are exacerbating labour shortages and increasing public spending on pensions, healthcare and social care. For this reason, raising awareness and understanding of options for saving for retirement is more important than ever.
