Romania’s largest multipurpose arena carries the Banca Transilvania brand: BTarena

Cluj-Napoca’s multipurpose arena will from now on be called BTarena, under a partnership between Banca Transilvania and Cluj-Napoca City Hall.

BT is Romania’s largest financial group, one of the strongest Romanian brands (BIZ 2018) and the country’s most valuable banking brand (Brand Finance 2017). The bank’s involvement in the life of the Cluj community includes supporting projects such as the U-BT basketball club and the U-Banca Transilvania men’s senior basketball team; FC Universitatea Cluj 1919 - an alliance between FC Universitatea Cluj (football) and Asociatia Clubul Sportiv U-BT (basketball); EuroBasket 2017; the 2017 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships; Napoca Rally Academy; BT Tennis Cup; Sports Festival; Crosul BT; Clujul Pedaleaza; EMBA University of Hull - a 100% British business school; the Clujul Are Suflet foundation; BT Club; tree-planting volunteer initiatives; as well as partnerships with Untold and Electric Castle. 2 out of 3 Cluj residents bank with Banca Transilvania.

At the same time, the arena has become a magnet for major sports and entertainment events in Romania. In just four years, the 10,000-seat multipurpose arena has hosted sporting events such as EuroBasket 2017, the 2017 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, the 2018 European Youth and Junior Table Tennis Championships, Fed Cup and Davis Cup ties, games by Romania’s national handball and basketball teams, as well as league and European cup games of the U-Banca Transilvania men’s basketball team. On the music side, the arena has hosted concerts by Sting, Julio Iglesias, Jose Carreras, James Blunt, Eros Ramazzotti, Lara Fabian, Alphaville, Modern Talking, Dire Straits and Smokie. It also hosts, year after year, dozens of Untold Festival shows, fairs, corporate events and conferences. At the beginning of 2018, the arena presented a prize to the 2,000,000th visitor through its doors.

BTarena is owned by Cluj-Napoca City Hall.

Also today, the Hall’s new website, btarena.info, goes live.
