Zero fee on payments at merchants & rewards: Star points or Award Miles
The number of BT credit card transactions at merchants between January and October this year rose by 45% compared with the same period in 2017. Over the same interval, BT customers accumulated more than 10 million Star loyalty points, equivalent to over 10 million lei.
The 410,000 credit cards managed by Banca Transilvania generate approximately 30% of all credit card transactions at merchants in Romania. More than 60,000 transactions are made every day with BT credit cards.
Zero fee on payments at merchants & other customer benefits
Banca Transilvania notes a rising trend in the use of BT credit cards for shopping, with over 90% of transactions being payments at merchants, which carry no fee and earn rewards. “This trend at BT has been strongly influenced by several factors. First, Banca Transilvania customers pay no fee when paying for purchases with their credit card at merchants in Romania and abroad. In addition, depending on the type of card, every payment earns them Star points or Award Miles, which can then be redeemed for purchases. Another benefit is the option to buy in up to 24 interest-free instalments at more than 12,000 partners in the Star programme.15% of the volume of merchant payments with Star cards is accounted for by instalment purchases.” - said Oana Ilas, Coordinating Director, Retail Product Development and Management Division, Banca Transilvania.
All BT cards can be enrolled in the BT Pay app for a completely new checkout experience, allowing simple phone payments. The app also lets users view card balances and the amounts due on their credit cards.
BANK Friday & credit card offers
Today, November 16, until 23:59, Banca Transilvania is running the online shopping campaign BANK Friday. The promotion for the Star Forte shopping card offers a bonus of up to 300 lei in Star points if it is used for at least 500 lei of shopping by the end of the year. In addition, the BT Flying Blue travel card is offered with no issuance fee and with 10,000 welcome Miles for the first purchase for those who take out the Classic card, and 15,000 Miles for the Premium card.
BT has 3.2 million cards in its portfolio, representing a 19% market share of cards issued in Romania. In addition, Banca Transilvania offers the BT Pay collection of payment accessories, which includes: the BT Pay app, a watch, a bracelet and a contactless sticker. Banca Transilvania has a network of 43,000 POS terminals and 1,800 ATMs, multifunctional ATMs (BT Express Plus) and payment kiosks (BT Express).
