- Banca Transilvania aims to rally Romanians to support entrepreneurs
- For the first time, the bank is launching an initiative in the voice of the people at BT, to share reasons and examples why local businesses deserve support
BT is launching a new initiative to support entrepreneurs — this time, those who are part of our everyday lives through their businesses. The coffee shop on the way to work, the corner shop near your building, the flower shop on the next street or the online store for natural products — and many other examples — are local businesses and the soul of any neighborhood or city.
Buy Local! is BT’s challenge to bring people together again so that as many people as possible hear about these businesses. Entrepreneurs, regardless of the size of their business, pay taxes and duties and create jobs. By supporting neighborhood businesses, Romanians support the local economy. The first step was taken by the bank’s employees, who recommended businesses from across the country, even if they are not BT clients. The campaign starts today with Omer Tetik, CEO, who presents Filgud (Bucharest); with Tiberiu Moisa, Deputy CEO MidCorporate & SME, who talks about Panemar (Cluj-Napoca); and with Sorina Tigantea, Agribusiness Relationship Manager, who promotes Floare din Banat (Timisoara). Dozens more #OameniDeLaBT will follow.
“People ask me what should be done in Romania right now. I think there’s a lot to do, but one thing each of us can easily do is support local businesses — buy from the people and companies near us. That’s how we support the whole country and ourselves, indirectly. I’m glad to be part of this initiative and I challenge those who know me — my colleagues and friends: pick a neighborhood business and buy from it; there are many, and they do a good job. They offer quality comparable to anything from abroad. Challenge open!” – said Omer Tetik, CEO, BT. “This is not just a campaign. We want to start a movement so that each of us thinks more about the impact our shopping and procurement has on the economy and how that impacts the country.” – Omer Tetik added.
The bank has also come up with other initiatives to support entrepreneurs during the pandemic. These include two online shopping hubs, #DirectLaTine and #InMiscare, launched together with clients, as well as Buy from a small business, to encourage as many people as possible to buy from early-stage companies.
