Banca Transilvania, the market leader in cards, has completed development of the BT Pay mobile app, which is now in its pilot phase. The application will be available to BT customers at the end of January 2018.

BT Pay is the first wallet in Romania to enable contactless payments, based on Visa Token Service and Mastercard Digital Enablement Service tokenization technology.

BT Pay means adding a customer’s Banca Transilvania debit and credit cards — in digital form — to the app. The application will be available for download at the end of January 2018, on Android and iOS smartphones, from Google Play Store or the App Store.

With BT Pay, BT customers will be able to:

• Make payments in Romania and abroad by tapping the smartphone at merchants’ contactless terminals; this functionality is available only on Android smartphones, as iOS does not allow NFC access for third‑party applications.
• Transfer money between their own cards and to other people who have a BT card.  
• View details such as: transactions made with the BT card, the balance and, for credit cards, the monthly amounts due and the Star loyalty points balance.
• Access campaigns from Banca Transilvania’s partners in the Star program, dedicated to those who have shopping cards issued by BT, as well as BT offers.

Banca Transilvania will provide more details on BT Pay at the end of January 2018, when the wallet application is officially launched.

In addition to the app, BT Pay includes the payment accessories launched so far by Banca Transilvania: the sticker, the watch and the contactless bracelet.
