• BT Pay has a new feature for managing and paying bills
• Over 1 million utility bills were paid each month in 2021 through the bank’s payment channels
• 1.7 million people use BT Pay for everyday banking

BT Pay, Romania’s first banking and payments super-app, has a new option, Bill Payments. The new feature makes bill management simpler: you can pay either by linking the provider account or by scanning bills. Customers will also be able to see due bills and their payment history in the app.

Through Banca Transilvania, over 1 million utility bills have been paid each month this year — via BT24, NeoBT, payment kiosks, ATMs and the Direct Debit service. 

In BT Pay, bills can be paid by linking the utility provider’s account in the bank’s app or by scanning the bill. The feature comes with three options:  

• Free: pay up to 4 utility bills per month to standard billers;
• Bills Plus: pay up to 8 utility bills per month. The subscription is 5 lei per month;
• Unlimited Bills: for an unlimited number of bill payments, at 15 lei per month.

“We’re adding an essential feature to the BT Pay super-app, addressing a basic need: paying utility bills. We are confident it will soon be among the preferred options for bill payment. BT Pay is an experience in itself, with a complete online journey: a digital card in the app, contactless payments at merchants and online, P2P transfers, cardless cash withdrawals at ATMs, fully online credit card issuance, etc., and now, bill payments too. All in one place. Since its launch in 2018, BT Pay has shaped and changed behaviours, such as moving purchases increasingly from the physical card to phone payments, as well as how people transfer money, using just the phone number,” said Gabriela Nistor, Deputy CEO Retail Banking, Banca Transilvania.

The Bill Payments option will roll out gradually, first on iOS phones and, in the second half of November, on Android.

BT Pay now has over 1.7 million users, +80% versus the same period last year.
