Bucharest Community Foundation and BT launch Inclusiv în cartier, a funding programme for neighbourhood community projects in the capital

Bucharest Community Foundation and Banca Transilvania are launching Inclusiv in cartier, a funding programme to develop projects for neighbourhood communities in the capital. Between 3 and 5 projects with activities in education, social initiatives or the environment will be supported. Applications to the funding programme are open until 10 June. The total programme budget is EUR 50,000.

Details:

  • Non-governmental organisations with no political affiliation and local initiative groups that will carry out the proposed activities in one of Bucharest’s neighbourhoods are eligible to apply.
  • Project proposals can be submitted online by 10 June.
  • Applications will be reviewed by an independent jury.
  • The full timeline, eligibility criteria, selection details, application forms and examples of eligible projects are available on the programme site.
  • The winning projects will be announced in early July.

Statements:

Sergiu Mircea, Executive Director, Marketing & Communication, Banca Transilvania:

“We are delighted to launch our first programme together with the Bucharest Community Foundation and we look forward to seeing the applications. NGOs, volunteering and entrepreneurs contribute significantly to the community fabric — whether we’re talking about the street we live on, the neighbourhood, the city or the country. We need to build this community fabric, which strengthens solidarity among people. Shared values keep us together and define us as a community. This is an initial project, which we hope will help us define shared values in Bucharest’s neighbourhoods.”

Alina Kasprovschi, Executive Director, Bucharest Community Foundation:

“In good times and in hard times, the local community — neighbours in the same neighbourhood — can be the ones who move things forward for the better. We focus on neighbourhoods because one of the foundation’s strategic priorities is to strengthen people’s sense of belonging to their local community. We are particularly pleased to align with Banca Transilvania and launch the Inclusiv in cartier programme together, through which we are looking for projects initiated by people from the neighbourhoods themselves.”
