BT Asset Management S.A.I. (BTAM) and BT Investments have received approval from the Financial Supervisory Authority to acquire 100% of Certinvest Pensii, the only local player among pension fund managers in Romania.

The Banca Transilvania Financial Group announced in October 2019 its intention to expand its financial services for more than 3 million clients through an investment in private pensions. At the same time, a binding agreement was signed in Bucharest between BT Asset Management, BT Investments and Certinvest Pensii regarding the acquisition.

“We are starting out with almost 10,000 clients and over RON 75 million under management. The next step is to integrate Certinvest Pensii into the BT Financial Group and prepare for clients. We are targeting those who are setting a long-term plan for their private pension and are close to the BT brand. What the Banca Transilvania Financial Group aims to achieve with its latest acquisition: 

• For BT’s future pensions company to become a highly relevant player in the market, following the model of the companies in the BT Group;
• To encourage long-term saving through Pillar III pensions, an optional choice that is increasingly in demand among working people;
• To provide an investment alternative, through both voluntary pensions and investment funds, on the back of the upward trend in saving.

The transaction was advised by BT Capital Partners, the investment banking and capital markets division of the BT Financial Group, Oaklins’ exclusive member in Romania.
