BT Capital Partners, the brokerage arm of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group and Romania’s largest retail broker, is taking over the investment banking business of Capital Partners, the leading independent Romanian M&A and corporate finance advisory firm. The transaction involves acquiring the Capital Partners brand and team and, under the new structure, once the legal steps are completed, BT Securities will become BT Capital Partners. Banca Transilvania Financial Group expects the transaction to be completed by the end of March this year.
BT Capital Partners will offer companies support for listings on the capital markets and capital raising, brokerage services, M&A advisory, financing and the structuring of complex financing solutions, market research and strategic management advisory.
Horia Ciorcila, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca Transilvania, says: "Entering the investment banking market marks a milestone for the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, as it enables us to complete the range of products and services we offer to large corporate clients. Through BT Capital Partners, we aim to provide top-tier, specialised financial services that complement banking, thus also contributing to financing the economy. Our intention is to combine the platform and experience of BT Capital Partners and the bank’s Corporate Division with Capital Partners’ investment banking expertise. This new acquisition is part of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group’s strategy of capitalising on the growth opportunities offered by the local market."
Doru Lionachescu, Principal Partner and Chairman of Capital Partners, adds: "BT Capital Partners will focus on Romanian companies with investment potential and will help consolidate the strongest Romanian-owned financial hub."
