Banca Transilvania Group announces, with profound regret, the passing of Mr Victor Țurcan, one of the founders of Victoriabank and Vice Chairman of its Board of Directors.

He was a visionary and a trailblazer in the banking system of the Republic of Moldova, playing a significant role in the establishment of Victoriabank (1989), the country’s first commercial bank.

For 35 years, through vision and dedication, he contributed to the development of Victoriabank, now part of Banca Transilvania Group and one of the largest banks in the Republic of Moldova. He was a mentor and a consummate professional who, to the very end, remained deeply connected to Victoriabank.

He is the subject of the book The Explorer, written by Serghei Evstratiev and published in the Republic of Moldova (2012). 

Just days ago, he was working on a book about the bank and his life, which he wished to launch on his 78th birthday.

His passing is a great loss for BT Group, for Victoriabank and for the banking and financial sector in the Republic of Moldova, as well as for all who knew him.
