Omer Tetik, BT’s Chief Executive Officer, and Banca Transilvania are joining the Together for MagicHOME campaign, in a show of solidarity with children battling cancer. 

The campaign launched in November this year and, more than that, it is an appeal to our humanity. MagicHOME is a house near Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest that will be fitted out to accommodate the parents of children with cancer during treatment, so they can stay as close as possible. MagicHOME will become reality once 100,000 SMS messages are received, each containing the text MAGIC, sent to 8844, which represents a donation of 2 euros/month. 

The symbol of this heartfelt initiative is the hospital chair—the place for parents who want to be as close as possible to their children in hospital. In solidarity with them, at the Galateca gallery in Bucharest, 2–4 C.A. Rosetti Street, anyone can sit in the symbolic chair and be part of the relay that will continue until the necessary funds are raised and MagicHOME becomes reality.

This weekend, Omer Tetik sat in the chair at Galateca, in solidarity with the children and their parents, and to encourage as many colleagues at BT as possible to contribute to this campaign.

“Years ago, before having my first child, a friend told me that, whatever the circumstances, I would be my son’s hero. Today I understand exactly what he meant because I am a very lucky person: with 3 children, I have at least 3 hearts at home that believe I’m the smartest, the strongest, the most handsome and the coolest person on the planet—that I’m their hero every day. Whenever I have a rough moment, I think of my family and smile again. 

Now imagine the pain of any hero-father seeing his child suffering from cancer. This demon is too big for anyone, and it takes more than heroism to survive. As I sat in silence on the chair at Galateca, I found myself thinking how often we are indifferent to many details in life. With a small effort, together we can turn them into miracles. We can lend a hand to those at the edge of the cliff, emotionally and financially. It only takes a few seconds to donate by phone 2 euros/month for you to become someone’s hero.
