Currency Exchange and a Euro Card in the BT Pay App

BT Pay is introducing two features, foreign exchange and getting the euro card, BT Mastercard Direct.

From now on, BT Pay users can carry out foreign exchange in the app and open current accounts in the currency they want. This option complements the range of transactions available for current accounts. We also have good news for those who need a euro card: they can request it online, in BT Pay, without needing to visit a BT branch. Customers now have a complete experience through BT Pay when they travel: they can have a card issued, make foreign exchange, take out travel insurance and pay with their phone” — says Oana Ilaș, Deputy CEO, Retail Banking, Banca Transilvania.

Foreign exchange option:

  • BT Pay users who have the Accounts option available in the app can buy or sell foreign currency.
  • If a BT Pay user doesn’t have an account in the currency they want to buy, they can open one easily — either as part of the steps for the foreign exchange transaction or anytime, under BT Pay/Accounts.
  • The Foreign exchange option appears in the Accounts category in BT Pay, for each individual account.
  • There are 15 currencies available for exchange: Romanian leu and Moldovan leu; euro; US dollar, Canadian dollar and Australian dollar; pound sterling; Swiss franc; Danish krone, Norwegian krone, Swedish krona and Czech koruna; Japanese yen; forint; and zloty.

Issuing the BT Mastercard Direct euro debit card:

  • Application, issuance, payments and card management are carried out online.
  • Customers can apply for the card in BT Pay under Cards/list of physical cards, following the steps indicated by the app. For customers who do not have a euro account, one will be opened automatically when the card is issued. Delivery of the physical card is the customer’s choice: either to one of the bank’s branches or to the desired address, by courier.
  • The digital card is available in BT Pay before the physical card is received and can be used for purchases at merchants using a phone, as well as online.
  • It can be funded immediately with euro, after completing a foreign exchange transaction in the app.
  • Euro transfers — requesting and sending — are carried out using the phone number between BT Pay users who have this type of card.
  • In the BT Pay app you can view a range of details, namely: balance and card information, transactions, grouping card spending by category, IBAN, setting transaction limits, and blocking/unblocking the card.
  • BT Mastercard Direct is useful for those who travel or live in one of the 20 European Union countries where the official currency is the euro: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the Netherlands. The card can be used for purchases in euro both online and at merchants, with zero fee. You can also withdraw cash (euro) from ATMs in the countries mentioned with this card.

Aplicația BT Pay poate fi descărcată gratuit din Google Play, App Store sau Huawei App Gallery.
