Banca Transilvania is taking its tree-planting programme to the Republic of Moldova through Victoriabank. The first Victoriabank Forest was planted on March 30 this year in Budesti (Chisinau), on a 3-hectare site. More than 400 employees of Victoriabank, BT Leasing Moldova and Proimobil.md, together with other participants and with support from verde.md, planted the area with over 1,000 walnut, linden, cherry, ash and bird cherry saplings.

“This initiative is about encouraging responsibility among our employees and in the society we live in. It is important to be responsible when we use paper, water and electricity, and to remember how long it takes for these trees to grow. We hope that by taking part in this kind of community programme, others will follow our example, so that the number of trees per capita in the Republic of Moldova increases.” said Bogdan Plesuvescu, CEO of Victoriabank.

The tree-planting initiative is part of a broader Victoriabank effort to be environmentally friendly. It includes responsible paper use at the bank’s premises. The results have not been long in coming: average monthly paper consumption in the first two months of 2019 decreased significantly compared with the same period last year.
