Following the 2024 ESG assessment by Sustainalytics, Banca Transilvania received its best ESG Rating in the Low Risk category in the past three years, at 14.95. The rating reflects the bank’s commitment to managing environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks responsibly and sustainably, as well as the way ESG is embedded in its business model.
Sustainalytics, one of the leading global ESG ratings providers, analyzes companies’ exposure to industry-specific ESG risks and their capacity to manage them. The assessment draws on 10 international standards and frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the World Economic Forum and others.
Banca Transilvania has made progress on the following:
- Stakeholder governance: updating the bank’s commitments to its various stakeholders. BT promotes transparency and has strengthened mechanisms for managing non-financial risks.
- Embedding ESG pillars in financial activities: both in lending to retail clients, SMEs and large corporates, and in the investment strategy;
- Business ethics: updating the bank’s policies and commitments to ensure appropriate handling of situations involving risk.
