BT Supports what's next, a Career Guidance Program and Platform for School Students

Students, parents, teachers and school counsellors now have access to the interactive what’s next platform, dedicated to career guidance and counselling. On the platform, they can find ways to harness children’s and young people’s aptitudes and interests when choosing their educational and career paths.

The platform is part of the pilot project of the same name, run in the 2024–2025 school year by Organizația Salvați Copiii and Centrul Municipiului București de Resurse și Asistență Educațională (CMBRAE), with support from Banca Transilvania.

The project brings the following benefits:

  • Broader access to high-quality vocational counselling (over 2,000 participating students and 200 parents);
  • Training specialists involved in guidance and counselling (so far, more than 70);
  • Developing modern information resources;
  • Creating a learning framework for self-knowledge, personal development and self-awareness (strengths, aptitudes, qualifications and qualities, limits, needs, aspirations and personal values, emotion management, communication, negotiation, personal branding, learning, teamwork, exploring learning opportunities and the market, decision-making, etc.)

To assess the impact of the pilot project, between 16 June and 1 July 2025, Organizația Salvați Copiii and CMBRAE conducted an online survey among the students taking part in the programme, with the following results:

  • The share of students optimistic about their career increased from 45% to 54.3%.
  • Awareness of career guidance and counselling rose from 67.5% to 88.7% across all students, with the biggest gains among seventh-graders.
  • Actual participation in career guidance and counselling activities increased from 23.6% to 78.3%.
  • The share of students who had heard of career guidance and counselling but had not taken part in the programme fell sharply (from 38.5% to 5.3%).

Access to what’s next:

  • Is via a user account;
  • For students, the account is activated once parental consent is confirmed.
