Microinvest receives EUR 20 million in financing from the EBRD to support entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova
Microinvest, the largest microfinance company in the Republic of Moldova, is receiving a senior multi-currency loan equivalent to EUR 20 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the largest institutional investor in the Republic of Moldova.
The financing agreement was formally signed in London, at the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, by:
- Francis Malige, Managing Director, Financial Institutions, EBRD;
- Dmitrii Svinarenco, Chief Executive Officer, Microinvest;
- Levon Khanikyan, Chairman of the Management Board, Victoriabank.
The financing is intended to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and will contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova’s private sector, as well as to strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of Microinvest, a company acquired in 2025 by Victoriabank, which is part of the Banca Transilvania Group.
The partnership with Microinvest is an important step in strengthening Moldova’s private sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of the country’s economy, and expanding their access to finance is essential for growth, innovation and resilience. This new financing agreement will enable Microinvest to reach more entrepreneurs across the country, supporting them to invest, grow and build stronger businesses despite the challenging regional environment.
