"At Banca Transilvania, we do more than banking. Our involvement in community life is one of the pillars of BT’s development and includes investing every year in volunteer tree-planting in areas with low forest cover. This is good for Romanians, for Romania, and it encourages volunteering. I took part in planting Pădurea Transilvania alongside colleagues from BT, volunteers and people from the local communities where we’ve been involved." – says Ömer Tetik, CEO, Banca Transilvania.

Since 2014, Banca Transilvania has invested over 300,000 euros in volunteer tree-planting programmes in Cluj (Tritenii de Jos), Bistrița-Năsăud (Budeşti, Budești-Fânațe, Sânmihaiu de Câmpie), Călăraşi (Jegălia) and Bucharest (Videle). In total, about 10,000 volunteers have taken part, helping plant nearly 50 hectares with more than 200,000 saplings, for which the survival rate has been close to 90%. BT’s partners in these initiatives are Tăşuleasa Social and the Mai Mult Verde Association.

Over the past five years, each tree-planting has drawn roughly 1,500 participants, making them, in this respect, the largest volunteer events in the country.

The green story continues on March 23 in Bistrița-Năsăud

BT’s investments in environmental volunteering programmes continue this year as well. The next volunteer action will take place on Saturday, March 23, in the village of Sânmihaiu de Câmpie in Bistrița-Năsăud County.
