Banca Transilvania launches the Contactless Donations option via dedicated POS terminals
  • Donations will help children who are ill and support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Project partners are the Little People Association and the Clujul Are Suflet foundation
  • RON 5 is the amount that can be donated each time via the dedicated POS terminals

Banca Transilvania is launching Contactless donations via dedicated POS terminals. A first for Romania, this encourages solidarity and community involvement so that—with the support of the community, the Little People Association and the Clujul Are Suflet foundation—as many children who are ill and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds as possible can be helped.

In the first phase, the bank will have 40 donation POS terminals in 40 BT branches across the country, complemented by those of the Little People Association’s partners at various merchants. RON 5 is the amount that can be donated each time with any bank’s contactless card or with one of the BT Pay payment accessories: the BT Pay app, sticker, bracelet or contactless watch. The donation POS terminals are supplied by Ropeco.

“By enabling contactless donations through dedicated POS terminals, we offer a modern alternative to a traditional practice—making donations. As part of the community, we are pleased to bring technology to social engagement projects as well. We’ve called these POS terminals ‘special’ because that’s what we want them to be: to help children and young people build a better life, together,” said Ömer Tetik, CEO, Banca Transilvania.

“Banca Transilvania has been with us since the association’s very first months. We are glad that the idea of POS terminals for donations quickly became reality. Little People is the first organization in Romania to provide services and access to technologies for actions that have a significant impact on the lives of children affected by cancer,” said Shajjad Rizvi, founder and president of the Little People Association Romania.

Clujul Are Suflet is Banca Transilvania’s largest community involvement project. Over 11 years, it has helped more than 2,000 young people discover their potential, finish their studies, retrain and find a job. In 2017, more than 20 teenagers supported by Clujul Are Suflet passed the baccalaureate, and half of them scored above 8 in the exams. The foundation is funded by BT, and through the donation POS terminals and boxes in its premises in Cluj-Napoca the bank aims to involve as many people in the community as possible. The Little People Association supports children and adolescents with cancer in 10 pediatric oncology wards in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Its contribution is essential, through psychosocial support programs, volunteer activities, as well as the renovation and equipping of hospitals. Every year, thanks to this association, over 2,000 children and young people learn to say “Nu Mi-e Frica!” (“I’m not afraid!”).

RON 23.11 million was Banca Transilvania’s contribution in 2017 to community involvement and social responsibility activities.
