BT and Fundația pentru Copii Ronald McDonald launch contactless donation boxes, continuing the initiative to bring people together
Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania is the latest beneficiary of the initiative launched last year by Banca Transilvania, Contactless donations via dedicated POS terminals. Starting this month, contactless donation boxes will be placed in 10 McDonald’s restaurants in Bucharest and across the country, and from next month they will also be in Banca Transilvania branches and in partner locations to be announced later.
5 lei is the amount that can be donated each time using a contactless card issued by any bank, with a phone via BT Pay or Apple Pay, or with any BT payment accessory: contactless sticker, bracelet or watch.
Donations will support projects run by Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania, which help children and their families through the Ronald McDonald Houses and through the annual provision of equipment and medical devices to Children’s Hospitals nationwide.
In the period immediately ahead, the Foundation will start work to expand the Ronald McDonald House in Timișoara with 10 rooms, build the new Ronald McDonald House in Iași, and complete the provision of medical and non-medical equipment to three children’s hospitals in the country.
“We are extremely proud that Banca Transilvania chose this partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania, and this makes us even more responsible in carrying our mission forward. Every 5 lei donation is a step forward in helping little ones stay close to their families during hospitalization. For us, the feeling of a home away from home that we bring to every parent who walks through our doors is the greatest fulfilment” Amalia Năstase, President of Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania.
“For 21 years, we’ve had an appetite for doing good! We are always alongside Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania, with warmth and heart, because we share the same values, and this innovative project makes us happy for the chance to do good so simply together with our customers and partners. Thank you to Banca Transilvania for the opportunity to get involved together, for Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania. We look forward to welcoming you to McDonald’s restaurants so we can give hope and normality together through the Ronald McDonald Houses and through actions that bring children’s hospitals the equipment and devices they urgently need.” Daniel Boaje, CEO, Premier Restaurants Romania, and Member of the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania.
“We hold McDonald’s in high regard—its organisational culture and its people—as well as the way in which, together with Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania, it changes people’s lives for the better right when they need help. We are glad to be part of this story for children. It has never been easier to donate than it is now, via contactless POS terminals, and we are pleased that we have managed to bring technology into CSR projects by launching the BT donation boxes for the first time. In this way, we are increasing the bank’s involvement in the community and in people’s lives, especially when our support and presence are needed most” Ömer Tetik, CEO, Banca Transilvania.
For 21 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania has identified, developed and supported projects and programmes that have a positive and direct impact on children’s quality of life and health, and to date the value of its community involvement exceeds 23,000,000 lei. More than 19,500 parents have found in the two Ronald McDonald Houses in Bucharest and Timișoara the comfort of a home during their children’s hospital stays. Five of the largest children’s hospitals in the country have benefited from the Foundation’s support through successive donations of advanced medical equipment or through non-medical equipment and fittings that are essential to delivering medical care in optimal conditions. 5,000 volunteers and supporters have dedicated time and resources to carry the Foundation’s message forward and to attract resources from the community.
