Victoriabank, part of the BT Financial Group, and verde.md are organizing a tree‑planting event to establish the Victoriabank Forest, which will take place on March 30 this year in Budesti, 15 km from Chisinau. In this way, BT’s eco‑friendly approach — which includes planting the Transylvania Forest in various areas of Romania — is being adopted in the Republic of Moldova by Victoriabank.

The volunteers will include employees from Victoriabank, BT Leasing Moldova and Banca Transilvania. They will plant over 1,000 saplings — walnut, cherry, hawthorn, linden, ash, bird cherry, etc. — across 3 hectares.

Tree planting is one of Victoriabank’s environmental initiatives. The same strategy includes the bank’s efforts to reduce paper use across its offices and thus save as many trees as possible. The first results are in: in the first 2 months of this year, compared with the same period in 2018, average monthly paper consumption was down by almost 20%, which means approximately 5 trees saved.

Banca Transilvania has been very active in tree planting in Romania. Over the past few years, green volunteer efforts have covered a total of 50 hectares in different parts of the country. The most recent such action took place on March 23 this year, in Bistrita-Nasaud County, where a new Transylvania Forest was planted over 10 hectares with the help of almost 1,500 volunteers.
