Almost 120,000 euros were donated by Romanians and by Banca Transilvania as part of the campaign Get a child ready for school, even if they’re not yours. Launched in early September by BT and Save the Children Romania, the initiative once again showed the power of solidarity: nearly 1,200 children from disadvantaged families are being helped to get ready for school.

The bank matched Romanians’ donations to Save the Children Romania made via BT Pay and BT’s website, and on one day it tripled all donations made through the app. The kick-off came from Banca Transilvania, which donated more than 50,000 euros at the start of the campaign.

“We thank the 2,000 Romanians who donated in this campaign to support the efforts children in these families facing hardship are making to learn. Beyond the amount raised, it is just as important that we build the habit of small but frequent donations. At BT, we are proud to have contributed to this cause together with Save the Children Romania. Nearly 40% of children in Romania are at risk of poverty, according to data from Save the Children Romania.

By taking part in this initiative, Banca Transilvania continues to be involved in the communities it is part of. In the context of the pandemic, BT donated over 2 million euros to help doctors and hospitals in 30 communities in the fight against COVID-19. As social distancing became a preventive measure, BT remains by Romanians’ side with concrete solidarity initiatives.
