Banca Transilvania was represented by Leontin Toderici, Deputy CEO – Chief Operations Officer, at the Digital Transformation conference, organized by The Diplomat magazine, on 19 June this year in Bucharest.

Leontin Toderici spoke about the evolution of digital financial services in Romania, the impact of new technologies, BT’s relationship with fintechs, BT Open Banking, BT Pay, and new projects the bank is pursuing in digitalisation. The key messages were:

• At BT we follow an omnichannel approach: the traditional network, with over 500 locations, coexists with digital banking channels. Transactions are likely to move increasingly online, but high‑engagement products — such as mortgages — are expected to remain more in‑branch.
• The bank is very open to collaborating with fintechs: we have partnerships with several, and their solutions help us offer customers a better experience.
• We’re pleased that the BT Pay app is gaining traction. We are continuously launching new features and it has over 200,000 users.
• Upcoming BT projects that are gaining momentum: the most important is NEO, which will not only replace BT24 Internet Banking and Mobile Banking, but will be a new way of banking.
• Customer expectations are high and change rapidly, so banks need to anticipate and prepare for new demands and trends.

The event brought together speakers and participants from companies investing in digital technologies, and the discussions focused on Technology Innovation, Business Innovation and Customer Experience.
