Banca Transilvania is part of a large-scale pilot project which, with the involvement of the General Directorate for Population Records, will improve the customer experience. Periodic verification and updates of customer data will be automated through information exchange with the public institution mentioned.

In a first phase, the bank retrieved ID card data for certain existing customers from the National Register for Population Records to update the corresponding information in BT’s database. To date, Banca Transilvania has successfully updated the information of more than 80,000 individual customers.

The next phase will start next year and will involve checking and updating customers’ personal data by verifying online, instantly, with the National Register for Population Records, so customers will no longer need to visit the bank to update the details from their ID cards.

Customer data checks will be carried out starting next year: 

• At account opening, regardless of the channel chosen by the customer — whether at one of Banca Transilvania’s branches or online;
• On a recurring basis, for example when an ID card expires, without customers needing to notify the bank or update their details at the bank.
