• Over 70% of the cards issued by Banca Transilvania are used digitally in BT Pay.

Banca Transilvania and Visa, one of the world’s leaders in digital payments, are launching the animated BT Visa virtual card in US dollars, which complements the mobile and online payment options and the travel solutions available in the app BT Pay.  

This is a debit card, issued and managed exclusively via BT Pay, with no issuance or maintenance fees. Customers can start using it immediately for in-store and online payments, without having to factor in exchange rates. The US dollar account is opened automatically online for customers who do not have an account in that currency when they apply for the card.

Last year we broke new ground in Europe with the first animated virtual card issued from BT Pay, building in the app the digital foundation for a new generation of innovative payment solutions. After expanding the range of virtual cards with the BT UNTOLD card launched last year and the euro card at the beginning of this year, we are continuing in this direction by launching an animated virtual card in a new currency, in US dollars, offering our customers both currency flexibility and an integrated digital experience. As before, every step is simple and intuitive, all within the BT Pay app: from instant issuance through to use and management. We are pleased to offer our customers solutions for their increasingly diverse and complex needs, both for online payments and for travel, making personal finance management easier anywhere in the world, including in the United States of America.

BT Pay solutions for travel: 

• Virtual cards in US dollars, in euro and in lei, and the UNTOLD Card, issued and managed exclusively through the app;
• Travel insurance, 100% online, obtained in about two minutes, valid in Romania and abroad;
• Foreign exchange directly in the app to fund BT cards in US dollars and euro.

Over 70% of the total number of cards issued by Banca Transilvania are used digitally in BT Pay, and over 280,000 are 100% virtual cards. The number of virtual cards issued by BT has doubled in the past nine months.

Over 6 million cards in Romania are issued by Banca Transilvania, representing one in four cards in circulation.
