Visa and Banca Transilvania will host in Bucharest on 3-4 November the 2026 General Assembly of the WE BUILD Consortium, a flagship European initiative dedicated to developing and testing the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet) and the EU Business Wallet (European Business Wallet – EBW). The WE BUILD for the Future event will bring together 450 representatives of 200 participating organisations from 28 countries to review and highlight the progress achieved across the 13 digital wallet use cases.

Through its involvement in the WE BUILD Consortium, Banca Transilvania is contributing to the development of the European digital identity, following the successful completion in 2025 of the first payments based on the EU Digital Identity Wallet. Together with the WE BUILD partners, the bank is involved both in developing the European eIDAS 2.0 framework and in testing concrete use cases, which will accelerate adoption of the European digital wallet.

WE BUILD, a consortium built around concrete digital wallet use cases

WE BUILD is a Large-Scale Pilot, co-financed by the European Union, bringing together public authorities, private companies, universities and technology providers to test, ahead of rollout in EU Member States, how the EUDI Wallet and EBW are used across a series of scenarios. The EU Digital Identity Wallet and the EU Business Wallet are being developed to significantly simplify interactions among these stakeholders. The use cases developed through WE BUILD cover opening a bank account in another EU country, e-invoicing, company representation by authorised persons, and streamlining Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.

WE BUILD is turning digital identity into an enabler of simpler, faster and safer business processes and payments across Europe. The General Assembly, held in Romania at the initiative of Visa and Banca Transilvania, is another step toward this shared goal.
