Products worth RON 1.1 million for Ukrainian refugees, donated by eMAG, Banca Transilvania, Mobexpert and Mastercard

eMAG, Banca Transilvania, Mobexpert and Mastercard are donating products worth 1.1 million lei for Ukrainian refugees in Romania. The donation consists of personal hygiene products, bed linen, mattresses, blankets, coolers, power banks and flashlights, which will reach their destination via the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.

According to the Romanian Border Police, on 13 March this year almost 14,500 Ukrainian citizens entered Romania and need support while transiting or staying in the country.

Statements:

  • Raed Arafat, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Head of the Department for Emergency Situations: “The lesson of solidarity has shown all of us these days that together, through sustained and integrated efforts, Romania can be a real support for all those who are the direct victims of the military conflict that broke out more than two weeks ago in Ukraine. Through the ongoing communication that exists between government institutions and civil society, the support actions being carried out inevitably lead to the continued integrated coordination of all efforts and aid coming from civil society, with the aim of making the entire support mechanism for Ukrainian citizens more effective. Therefore, I would like to thank eMAG, all partners and the representatives of civil society who have joined this noble purpose of helping their fellow human beings”.

  • Omer Tetik, CEO, Banca Transilvania: “The solidarity shown by Romanians in helping refugees is impressive. Companies should show the same solidarity. We have always found eMAG, Mobexpert and Mastercard open and responsive in every way. We have done good together before, at the outset of the pandemic and on other occasions, and we are doing so now. We are donating with those who need us in mind and with the hope that tomorrow will be better”.
  • Dan Sucu, Founder, Mobexpert: “The specter of a war so close to us was unthinkable until yesterday. The ordeal our Ukrainian neighbors are going through cannot leave us indifferent. Any help is welcome; we all have a duty to get involved”.
  • Cosmin Vladimirescu, Country Manager, Mastercard Romania and Croatia: “Many people have left their lives behind for a tomorrow full of uncertainty. In such indescribable moments, solidarity is the only possible response, the only way in which we should all respond. Every effort matters, every form of help brings hope, beyond any borders”.
  • Tudor Manea, CEO, eMAG: “Just as Romanian families across the country have offered shelter to their neighbors forced to leave everything behind, we in the private sector also have a duty to show the same responsibility in the face of the tragedy these people are living through. We are trying to help as much as we can with donations and we call on all those who can to join us”.
