Fitch Ratings the long-term issuer rating (IDR) of Banca Transilvania has increased from “BBB-” to “BBB”, one notch above the country rating. The rating upgrade occurs in the context of the update of evaluation criteria applicable to some banks in Central and Eastern Europe, including Banca Transilvania.
Fitch Ratings considers that Banca Transilvania is more resilient than the environment in which it operates due to strong financial performance, very good capitalization, access to international markets, and the financing strategy through MREL eligible bonds. At the same time, Fitch emphasizes that the bank's long-term issuer rating remains influenced by Romania's sovereign rating, whose outlook is still negative.
