Banca Transilvania has started distributing over 320,000 cards to OTP Bank Romania customers. The cards can be used starting March 3, 2025, as the merger between the two banks, announced recently, will take place on February 28, 2025.

Individual customers will be the first to receive their cards, starting in December 2024.

Distribution of cards for individuals began in mid-December 2024, both via home delivery and at BT and OTP Bank branches. Customers have several options to find out how to collect their cards:

• The notification from BT and OTP Bank Romania received by courier or email;
• Banca Transilvania’s website;
• The Call Center & Customer Care teams of the two banks:
  • BT: 0800 800 881; +40264 308 014; otp@btrl.ro;
  • OTP Bank Romania: 0800 88 22 88; +4021 308 57 10; office@otpbank.ro;
• Banca Transilvania branches.

Business customers will receive their cards starting in mid-January 2025

Card distribution for business customers and related communications, including via the Banca Transilvania website, will start in mid-January 2025. Customers will be able to collect the cards exclusively from BT and OTP Bank branches.

Cards must be activated upon receipt at any Banca Transilvania ATM, using the code received by SMS.

Security of funds, cards and personal data

Banca Transilvania advises customers to exercise extra caution with their cards:

• never share BT card details in response to emails, SMS messages or phone calls, even if they appear to be from BT or OTP Bank Romania;
• never provide card details in order to receive money;
• report suspicious activity and fraud to BT (0264 308 055; contact@btrl.ro).
