BT Leasing Bonds Debut Today on the Bucharest Stock Exchange
The BT Leasing (BTL) bonds begin trading today on the regulated market operated by the Bucharest Stock Exchange, making BTL the second company in the Banca Transilvania Financial Group to use the Bucharest Stock Exchange’s financing mechanisms.
By listing its bonds on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BTL aligns with the BT Group’s strategy of being a main supporter of Romania’s business community and capital market.
The debut at BVB was officially marked today at the Exchange’s headquarters, with the BT Group represented by Ömer Tetik, CEO, BT; Ionuț Morar, CEO, BT Leasing; and Daniela Secară, CEO, BT Capital Partners.
BT Leasing’s first bond issue was also completed this month through a private placement aimed at institutional investors. The total amount raised is 40 million euros. The bonds were issued in euros, in two tranches with different maturities: a 6‑year maturity with a floating coupon of Euribor6M+2%, and a 5‑year maturity with a floating coupon of Euribor6M+1.75%, paid semi‑annually. The issue marked a first for Romania’s capital market: it is the first euro‑denominated issue with a floating rate and two tranches with different maturities.
The intermediary is BT Capital Partners, the investment banking & capital markets arm of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group and Oaklins’ exclusive member in Romania.
Statements:
- Ionuț Morar, CEO, BT Leasing: “For BT Leasing, this bond issue primarily means financing new leasing contracts. We want to support Romanian companies, especially SMEs, in becoming more competitive in their line of business.”
- Daniela Secară, CEO, BT Capital Partners: “We are pleased to have worked alongside our colleagues at BT Leasing to deliver this issue and open a new chapter in the BT Leasing story by accessing an alternative source of financing, namely the capital market.”
- Adrian Tanase, CEO, Bucharest Stock Exchange: “Banca Transilvania is the success story written on Romania’s capital market, and we proudly present it to all serious companies with a well‑defined development strategy that want to take the step toward BVB. The fact that BT Leasing has now decided to tap the capital market for financing is welcome and adds another noteworthy chapter to the story of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, a flagship issuer on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and, at the same time, one of our partners in developing the capital market.”
BT Leasing has been on the leasing market for over 20 years. Founded in June 1995 with 8 shareholders and 100% Romanian capital, the company was initially named LT Leasing Transilvania. In 2002, Banca Transilvania became the sole shareholder, at which point the company became BT Leasing Transilvania. BTL has financed more than 15,000 clients and has concluded over 30,000 contracts.
