Our commitment to responsible, impact financing is embedded into our product offer, from green mortgages to green personal needs loan. Through these products, carrying more advantageous interest rates, we encourage our customers to have a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, with greener homes and limited purchases primarily for eco-friendly goods.

Withal, our portfolio contains the first eco-friendly card in Romania, BT Visa Classic. By developing a life-cycle strategy for an eco-friendly card, we chose a reliable partner, IDEMIA. Together, we found the right technology, process, and materials to substantially reduce negative environmental impacts such as plastic waste and carbon footprint. Launched in late July, the eco-friendly card is made of recycled plastic and biodegradable elements and represents our start for a sustainable transformation on the cards market.

To secure online and POS payments, the Bank complies with Strong Customer Authentication standards, part of the European directive on PSD2 payment services.

Access to banking applications – BT Pay, Neo BT, BT24, BT Visual Help – is granted securely, complying with high-security standards. Cards enrolled in BT Pay and other wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay, Garmin Pay are tokenized. Also, the cards issued by BT comply with international security standards regulated by Visa/Mastercard.

Our figures show that the pandemic has brought about a massive upswing in the adoption of online banking. The result leads to a new banking era in which one of the main pillars is technology. To encourage customers to take steps towards sustainable mobility solutions, BT Leasing has come up with products with low-interest rates and fees – Green Mobility Leasing (RON and EUR). In 2020 we had an 18% share of registered leases for hybrid or electric cars, new or used, from authorized dealers in Romania or BT Leasing partners. In 2021, BT Leasing continued to encourage the transition to environmentally friendly options, and customers who have opted for electric cars or PHEV benefited from better interest rates.

We support annual reforestation campaigns to protect reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss, while continuing with our paper consumption reduction measures.
