The integration of OTP Bank into Banca Transilvania is in the home stretch, and the two banks will merge on February 28, 2025.

Until the merger, the two banks continue to operate separately, with the integration of OTP Bank into Banca Transilvania well under way.

OTP Bank customers will be able to use Banca Transilvania’s products and services starting March 3, 2025. They can already receive their new IBAN and BT physical card, as well as the BT Pay app.

What we’ve prepared so far for OTP Bank retail customers and our recommendations

#1. Information on the BT website 

Product and service overviews, the integration status, and how to find your new IBAN are all available on the BT page for OTP Bank Romania customers.

#3. BT products and services corresponding to those at OTP Bank

The BT Welcome Offer and the like-for-like services and products are presented on the BT page for OTP Bank Romania customers. You will be able to use them starting March 3, 2025.

#4. Personalized notification 

In December 2024, Banca Transilvania and OTP Bank sent customers personalized notices with details about BT products and services, the integration timeline, etc., by post and, where possible, by email.

#5. BT cards

BT cards will replace OTP Bank cards starting March 3, 2025. They have been delivered by courier or are available at certain Banca Transilvania and OTP Bank branches.

Recommendations:

• Find out ahead of time where you can collect your card, from:

  • the BT and OTP Bank Romania notice received by courier or email;
    
    

  • BT page for OTP Bank Romania customers; online, on this page, you can book an appointment to collect your card from the branch where it’s already waiting for you.

• When you receive your card:
  • Activate the card at any BT ATM using the code received by SMS. If you collect your card at an OTP Bank branch, BT ATMs are available there as well to make things as easy as possible for you.
    
    
    • Download the BT Pay app, which you will be able to use for everyday banking — including your BT digital card — from March 3, 2025.
      
      
    • If you are a joint customer (i.e., you bank with both OTP Bank and BT), you will be able to add the BT‑issued digital card in BT Pay immediately after activating it at one of the BT ATMs.

#6. BT IBANs

At BT you will have a different IBAN for your current account, which can be used starting March 3, 2025. You will need it for domestic and international transfers. For example, if you receive funds, the person making the transfer must know your IBAN and your name. For receiving a scholarship, child benefit or pension, BT will take care of sending the new IBAN to the respective institutions.

Over 1,900 BT ATMs for basic transactions 

You can use OTP Bank cards to withdraw cash and check your balance at BT ATMs, under the same fees and conditions you have at OTP Bank Romania ATMs. Our bank has over 1,900 ATMs in 350 locations.
