BT Accessibility Solutions for People with Special Needs

Banca Transilvania announces new accessibility solutions for people with disabilities — mobility, hearing and visual — by launching the optimisation of the bank’s website and the BT Pay app. Banca Transilvania Group’s commitment to accessibility means adapting services, products and branches, and supporting social initiatives that promote inclusion and equal opportunities.

The implementation of digital, physical and communication accessibility measures — websites, apps, branches, self-service banking solutions and Call Center assistance — is being rolled out gradually and is aligned with the requirements set out by the European Accessibility Act, the National Authority for Consumer Protection and the National Council of Disability in Romania.

Optimising the website and BT Pay app interfaces

  • On Banca Transilvania’s website, users can access dedicated tools, located in the bottom-left section of the homepage, that enable a range of adaptations: text-to-speech, larger fonts, etc.

  • BT is currently enhancing the accessibility of around 50 documents on the bank’s website, the BT Pay app and the websites of other companies within Banca Transilvania Group.

  • To meet the new European digital accessibility standards, Banca Transilvania Group is working with Accessi+.

Adapting the bank’s branches and ATMs

  • Two of Banca Transilvania’s branches in Bucharest are fully accessible, with an access ramp, adapted desks, an ATM positioned at an optimal height and tactile paving:

  • Adapting the other Banca Transilvania units to make them more accessible is underway. Solutions already implemented include: accessible routes, easy-open doors, specially arranged spaces, fixed and mobile ramps for people with reduced mobility, visual and tactile wayfinding, and personalised assistance.

  • In more than 50 branches — one in five — across the country, people with hearing impairments have access to information in sign language, with specialist interpreters, through the Voci pentru mâini service.

  • Most BT ATMs are accessible for people with mobility impairments, being positioned at an appropriate height or equipped with an access ramp.

  • For customers with visual impairments, the bank has started rolling out audio assistance (Audio Guidance) at ATMs.

Self-service banking options and contacting the BT Call Center

  • The BT Visual Help app provides visual support when someone dials 0264 308 000 (without speaking to an agent).

  • The virtual assistant (BT chat) in BT Pay facilitates quick access to information about the app and the bank’s products and services, eliminating the need for a voice call.

  • Information can also be requested by email (conctact@btrl.ro).

  • The bank provides voice and written support in several languages: Romanian, English, Hungarian and Italian.

BT is a member of the Romanian Diversity Chamber of Commerce, a signatory to the Diversity Charter, and a supporter of social initiatives that accelerate integration and inclusion, among the most recent being AccessABILITY Expo 2025, O viață în culori pentru nevăzători, Dog Assist and Climb Again.
