We have 1,800 ATMs,
of which over 550 are multifunctional, very helpful for self-banking – from cash deposits in lei and foreign currency, to currency exchange and contactless cash withdrawals or based on a code.
But be very careful because physical cards can be cloned right at the ATM. Unfortunately, through the installation of electronic devices by ill-intentioned people, the information stored on the magnetic strip of the card can be copied. Once the information is stolen, it can be used to inscribe cards, which criminals can use to withdraw money from the ATM or for shopping.
Our recommendations:
- Make sure that the keyboard and the slot where you insert the card are fixed (not detachable);
- Do not leave the PIN and cards visible;
- Be careful that the people around you do not see the PIN entered and the amount withdrawn;
- Do not accept help from people who offer themselves out of the blue to help you when you are at the ATM;
- If, by chance, you find money at the ATM, notify us immediately.
BT Solutions for ATM safety:
- Over 80% of our ATMs are contactless, so:
- You can withdraw money even if you do not have the physical card with you. Practically, from BT Pay you choose the card from which you want to withdraw money and generate a unique code that you enter at the ATM.
- If you deposit money at BT Express Plus, always check that you do not exceed the daily deposit limit; always check the receipt to confirm the transaction to make sure the money has arrived in the desired account;
- Do not leave the ATM until the withdrawal is completed: meaning you have received the money and the receipt (if you requested it), and the message welcoming the next customer has appeared on the screen. Sometimes the money takes longer to be dispensed, but please wait. Otherwise, there is a possibility that the money will be dispensed after you leave and another person will take it.
- Some of the ATMs are located in enclosed spaces – either in our branches, or in shopping centers or other institutions, therefore it is possible that you have access to them only during the working hours of the spaces where they are installed.
- The PIN entered incorrectly three times in a row blocks the card in the ATM. It is not pleasant, but it is for your safety. The idea is that, in case someone finds your card and tries to guess the PIN, they will be left without the card on the third wrong attempt to access your money.
