    BT Pay User Guide

    General

    What is BT Pay?

BT Pay is a secure Mobile Banking app, accessible via your mobile phone with an internet connection. The BT Pay app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery.

To use BT Pay, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

    • you are already a BT customer with a current account holder – if you have already established a business relationship with BT
    • you become a BT current account holder through BT Pay if you successfully initiate and complete the opening of a business relationship with BT directly through the BT Pay application;
    • you are a cardholder – if you have at least one BT debit or credit card, issued in your name, linked to a BT account opened in the name of another individual customer and/or to the account of a BT corporate customer or a BT electronic meal voucher card (BT meal card) or a card issued by BT Direct.
    • If you have at least one BT debit or credit card registered in the app, you can also add cards issued by other financial institutions in Romania (issued in the cardholder’s name or under the Visa/Mastercard/Maestro logo, per individual) with which a limited number of operations can be performed, described in point 4 "BT Pay functionalities"
    • you are fully authorized on the account of another BT individual customer and they have granted you permission to access their accounts, including through BT Pay.

Opening the business relationship with BT through the BT Pay app

Individuals of legal age who do not have an established business relationship with the Bank can apply to become individual customers with current accounts through the BT Pay app.

The process of establishing the business relationship through BT Pay is 100% online, conducted remotely, and aims to enroll the customer (applying know-your-customer measures according to legal provisions), open a current account, and activate a subscription with various transactional products/services available in the bank's offer.

After completing the application process, requests to open the business relationship initiated through BT Pay can be, as applicable:

    • approved: (i) instantly, or (ii) on the following business days

    or

    • (iii) rejected, in certain situations

In any of these situations, the applicant is informed by a notification in the application about the outcome of the application they initiated.

    Accessing BT Pay

The app can only be used if your phone is secured by a password, fingerprint, or other security method provided by your phone.

When registering in BT Pay, the user will be asked to set a security code for using the application, hereinafter also referred to as the "application PIN code" (e.g. each time the application is accessed, the user will have to enter the security code).

If the user has the device unlocking feature active on their phone using biometric data (e.g., Face ID, fingerprint), after setting the security code, they will be given the option to replace the authentication method in BT Pay from using the security code to the method that uses the biometric data registered on the phone.

The security code or, where applicable, the biometric unlocking method will be required each time the app is accessed, for contactless payments, online payments, ATM withdrawals, transfers, additional card settings, and other options requiring user authentication.

Depending on the category to which the BT Pay user belongs (mentioned in section 1), they will have access to all BT Pay functionalities, described in chapter 4 BT Pay functionalities, or only to part of them.

If the application user is only an additional cardholder, the following features will be unavailable: Round Up, Bill Payments, travel insurance, RCA insurance, Kiddo, overdraft credit line approval, credit card approval, updating BT Pay information, RoPay Alias service, adding a non-BT card.

If the user of the application has only proxy rights on another BT individual customer’s account, they will be able to perform operations such as: viewing current accounts/savings accounts/term deposits; making transfers from/to open current accounts; currency exchanges in the currencies in which the holder has open accounts; generating account statements; viewing transaction history; distributing IBANs; setting up recurring payments; managing savings and deposit accounts, including opening and closing them.

If the application user is only a meal voucher cardholder, they will have access to the following features: Cards, offers, and prizes on the go.

At the same time, BT Pay users who are BT individual customers with a current account will have the option, during a call initiated to or from the Call Center, or at a BT branch, to be identified through the Application installed on the phone number registered with the bank. Customers who choose this identification method will receive a notification sent to BT Pay, from where they can accept or decline identification, or identify themselves using the BT Pay app PIN code or the phone’s biometrics (Face ID, fingerprint).

How do I add a BT-issued card to BT Pay?

BT Pay users who hold BT cards will find in BT Pay, under the "Cards" tab, all cards issued in their name or additional cards issued to others but linked to their accounts. To add a card issued by another bank to BT Pay, you must manually enter the card details requested in the app.

I am an individual and I am not a BT customer. How do I apply for a card?

The card is automatically linked to an account. The ways you can issue them are:

    1. Online from the BT Pay app - you can open a 100% online account in a few minutes and request a debit card. You will receive the IBAN as soon as you complete the process and will be able to receive funds into this account. The card will appear in the list of instant cards, and the physical card will be sent to you by courier. To open the account online, request a card, and get details about the process, access https://www.bancatransilvania.ro/cont-online.
    2. b) BT unit – you can open an account and apply for a card at any Banca Transilvania unit. The card will appear in BT Pay within 24 hours, and you will receive the physical card later at the unit where you applied.

What operations can you perform with your BT Pay card?

You can perform all the operations mentioned above in BT Pay functionalities, depending on the card you have and whether you have been identified as an individual customer or as a card user. The operations you can access are described in chapter 2, BT Pay functionalities.

If you are classified as a card user, the following features will not be accessible: Round Up, Bill Payments, travel insurance, RCA insurance, BT Kiddo, granting/increasing the Overdraft credit line, granting/increasing the credit card line, updating data in BT Pay, adding a non-BT card.

Once you have received and activated your physical card, you will be able to withdraw cash using your phone and at the bank's contactless ATMs, an operation that requires entering the PIN code at the ATM.

At the same time, cards that have expired and are automatically reissued by the bank allow withdrawals from contactless ATMs, with the PIN code remaining the same as that of the expired card.

How can I delete an enrolled card?

If you want to remove a BT/ BT Direct card from the app, you must first block it permanently and then you can delete it from the app. This is done from the Card Settings, using the Permanent Card Lock option.

For non-BT cards added to the app, you can delete them by accessing the "more" button in the cards tab > delete card.

Is the real card data stored on the phone?

The application saves only the last 4 digits of the card number, expiration dates, and the cardholder's name. The full card number and its CVV/CVC are never stored.

Am blocked cardul fizic. Pot folosi în continuare cardul din aplicație pentru plăți?

No. If you block your physical card, it will no longer be usable for any payment or transaction, either in person or through the app. You will also lose access to the card settings in the app.

How long is the enrolled card valid? Is it linked to the physical card?

The BT card registered in the app has the same validity period as the physical card. If your physical card expires, you will no longer be able to use it in BT Pay.

Can I register my card on multiple devices?

No, you can't enroll the card on multiple devices. A card can only be enrolled on one device.

What happens if my physical card expires and I replace it?

How do I enroll a BT card in 3D Secure BT Pay?

Following the registration process, the card will be automatically enrolled in 3D Secure for online payment authentication with BT Pay when added to the app. In some cases, you may need to activate this option manually in Card Settings, confirming activation by entering the PIN set in the BT Pay app or using biometric authentication (face recognition or fingerprint).

You can authenticate the transaction using the app PIN or biometric methods (facial recognition or fingerprint). You have 5 minutes to authenticate or reject the transaction. Afterwards, you will return to the merchant's website to complete your order.

! Authenticating the transaction does not mean that it is completed. To ensure that the payment is complete, you will return to the merchant's page to see the status of the transaction.

! Make sure you have General notifications enabled. You can check this in the Notifications – Notification Settings menu. If you have enrolled your card in more than one app, you will receive notifications on each device.

With your permission, the payment confirmation screen can be displayed automatically, without needing to access the notification or the app, allowing you to confirm or cancel the payment using the app’s PIN, one of the biometric options (facial recognition or fingerprint), or the phone’s unlock method. This permission will be requested after the first online payment confirmation or can be set from the phone’s advanced settings – apps section – BT Pay app.

I blocked my physical card. Can I still authenticate online payments?

If you block the physical card, you can no longer use it for online payments. In such cases, online payment authentication notifications can no longer be generated.

When initiating an online payment, a notification will be sent through the BT Pay app if the cardholder is authorized for online payment authentication.
